Masume
Women rights
It has been always a problem and goes on. Women are being killed, murdered, raped and being victims of many more violences, just because of their gender? Isn't it foolish???
My name is Masume, I am 27 years old from Afghanistan but I was born and raised in Iran. I am one of the luckiest girls who survived many terrible things which could possibly happen to me too, but I will share what I have experienced!
When it comes to migration or refugee the first question is : why have you left your country? In this case if you say I was not safe there the second question is: have you had any enemy to threaten you to death?
Even sometimes people ask you if you don't feel guilty to become a refugee instead of lots of people who are experiencing war. And you feel just disappointed to explain them that I was not save either, I was experiencing another kind of war (mental war), because every day I was afraid of being harassed by strangers who were just walking next to me,being judged of my dressing and laughter, my make up or hair, and after all being afraid of sharing any of these moments with my family because then they would argue, blame and limit me more, being beaten by my younger brother just because he doubt that I might have a relationship, and patriarchal society and family allow him to disrespect you so easy just to prove people I can control my sister.
You grow up with fear, with inequality, with humiliation, but all of it make you strong!!!
Strong enough to continue living under this circumstances, to dress the way you want to walk in the street and laugh, to have relationship to deal with every challenge around you, but in some points it is not on your hand anymore, they can insult you with foolish excuses, they throw acid on your face, they burn you alive and kill you…
Things that no one can imagine are happening to all around the world more or less in different places, terrible things are happening to women and what is the solution?!
I believe if everyone starts from himself to stop judging any girl as the wrong ways that are trended and to start believing on equality and spare this ideology as much as they can as I believe this is a knowledge itself which is the correct one, which will bring justice and happiness to everybody’s life.
I hope one day people live in a world where everyone is treating equally.
